Let me take you back ten years or so To the buds i knew in around my home Middle school mayhem made us feel the same We were a motley crew, a sight to see A goth, punk, metal, hippie family At night we waltz these streets in drunken harmony We wept and bled, some even got head From devil's peak to the forest bed Hallowed times in the skirmish line These were some friends of mine Chorus: Oh, Roncy Renegades take me back The party, the glory of the first attack The older i get, the more i miss the act The old brigade of the Roncy Renegades Some went high and some went low We got a feeling or a promise from an undertow Trade nights for day and bathe in the afterglow A comradery we could never see The days flew by in the revelry We clocked some hours in this feral company Soon enough we had enough The love we felt was getting rough Too much confined to too few What were we gonna do? Chorus Well the times have changed we all grew up But somehow drink from a heathen cup The places change but the people stay the same On a friday night the streets are dead No goths, punks, or stoned metal heads Where did all the freaky people go? But i'm not about to give up the fight I still believe in a marauder's plight The boys will ride again Even if it's at the very end Chorus
2.
All for nothing and everything spent When i could have stayed content Though i never know love's intent Even when it ate my rent But i don't mean to whine or vent I take it as a compliment That our moment came and went Though you wore another man's scent Bridge: Even though, I feel alone (aye) I don't need to envy you, 'cause i'm Better off now, on my own now And you haven't got a clue Chorus: All you pretty girls Go get your boyfriend and leave me alone x3 All those nights we chased the dawn Wondering if i was doing wrong But i'd never make a cuckhold of him Even when we sipped our gin One year passed when you parted at last There i thought i'd make a pass But the colour faded from your cheeks There i knew this game had peaked Bridge Chorus All you pretty girls Go get your boyfriend and leave me alone x4

Sidewinder 04:03
I cut corners with a flight of ease My dancing shoes only aim to please. I’m burning up like smokestack lightning I’ll put it down in tiptoe tapping. I can rattle and roll like Pinnochio Play Mariotnette like Antoinette. I shuffle better than a deck o’cards Give Fred Astair my kind regards. Chorus: Melody can be my baby Harmony can be my daddy I don't need to be wary When I dance we are a family I'm sidewinder, a trailblazer I got more twang than a sci-fi laser I'll cut you down like an Eastwood villian All the while i'll just be chillin' I groove harder than a spinning screw Got more moves than i know what to do Make no mistake, i'll instigate Get your feet pumping till they detonate Chorus

Dirt 03:32
Seems to me, from what I see My vantage point, it wasn’t free This little hole, that I have dug Gives little warmth, even to a slug And if I were, a gun for hire It still leaves much, to be desired My back is broke, I’m out of rope I need a drink, to help me cope Chorus But I won’t be here for long And I can sing an evening song I’ll climb above this world of hurt All and all, it all just looks like Dirt. I’m sifting through, some wood n rust Prompted by, a golden lust But what would I, ever aim to be In a town, without economy And so my days, are shaved and spent Just so I, can pay my rent And so I say, I’ll pay my dues But what about, the richest few? Chorus

On The Run 02:39
We were born of an amber flame Kindled By a spark we claim Fueled by a fairytale game Wild hearts can never grow tame. We were destined for a happy end Hand-in-hand while running round the bend No rule to Comprehend No tracks, no letters to send. Bridge: Oh, I can’t let go of what I know Come comfort me, race me to the sea. Chorus: On the run, on the run Again, We were on the run again, On the run again. we were On the run On the run On the run again I think we met at a game of skip rope Never danced till we eloped Always running out of dope Open road was our only hope, But we lost it by the sea Candle burnt its ends in glee, couldn’t find that old alchemy in the cape of Love (G) & worry (A). Bridge 2 Oh, I can see now the why and the how you, could’ve marry me but now we’ll always be.

about

Ruby Cikada Toronto, Ontario

Ruby Cikada is an alternative/psych-rock band based out of Toronto, ON. The sound of the band has been described as esoteric, taking influence from elements of funk, folk, grunge, and jazz to create an experimental, albeit catchy, collusion. Suiting a range of tastes, the band takes a 'variety' approach to live music in its 'psyche pop' oriented songwriting and progressive arrangements. ... more
